At the direction of the membership at the June membership meeting, the Local set up a fund of $1.00 per member to go to CWA families affected by the tornado that struck Joplin on May 22, 2011. Our local adopted the Hansen Family; Darla, her mother & three teenage children. Their house was a total loss. We have sent more than half of the designated money in the form of gift cards for back-to-school and personal items. With the remaining money left, we hope to purchase a much-needed set of tires for the family’s only remaining vehicle. Below is a list of mostly kitchen items that the family still needs. One way that she makes ends meet is to grow and can her own food. These items do not need to be new, only in good working order.
